Steamboat Winter Activities

Posted by BAP Store on

Well my friends it is January in Steamboat!
Town is vibrant with newcomers, returnee’s, and local dwellers.
So far this season Steamboat is really embodying that classic winter wonderland scene- hopefully these frequent snowy events keep coming!

Now we know that Steamboat is known for our Ski Resort, but hey, we got a lot more to offer.

To get an “authentic” Steamboat  winter experience we’ve come up with a pretty extensive list!
We recommend drinking local beer, always, we have a few great brewskis in town:
Butcherknife, Stormpeak, Mountain Tap, Mahogany Ridge & Yampa Valley Brewing Company… Just remember if you are from a low altitude location, our beers will seem extremely strong!

Visiting Howelsen Hill Ski Area near downtown Steamboat.
Howelsen is the oldest operating ski area in Colorado and they offer various activities like skating at the ice rink, watching ski jumpers practice, Nordic skiing, and Ski Free Sundays!

Hot Springs!
Steamboat is known for our lovely hot springs, and fortunately we have two places to recommend to ya’ll!
Old Town Hot Springs is conveniently located in downtown Steamboat and is family friendly with various waterslides and large pools.
There is also Strawberry Park Hot Springs, which is a 20-25 minute drive from town
but it's absolutely beautiful with aesthetic rock pools nestled in nature.
(You definitely need good snow tires and we recommend 4 wheel drive, also they only take cash or check so come prepared)

Snowshoeing/ Cross-country Skiing!
In and around Steamboat we have so many trails to choose from. Whether you are looking for a casual stroll or a full day adventure, at BAP we can give you a recommendation- never hesitate to stop in and ask!

Tread of the Pioneers Museum
For ya’ll looking for some Steamboat history you should check out our local museum (AND it’s conveniently located right near our Oak Street location!). The Tread of Pioneers Museum has engaging and interactive exhibits all dealing with local history,  depending on the day they also feature various activities for the kids!

As Steamboat’s winter apparel headquarters we are full of ideas, so stop on in and we can recommend various activities! Heck, while you stop by make sure to check out all of our local gear swag, as we have an abundance!
Until next time,

Remember to shop local and WEAR BAP!

Also, pro tip #54: You can always grab a copy of the local paper the Steamboat Pilot and check their “Happenings” page for current events and live music!
